Arrest warrant issued against Indian Pacer Shami over domestic violence

The Alipore court has issued an arrest warrant against cricketer Mohammad Shami in connection with the domestic violence case filed by his estranged wife Hasin Jahan. The court has asked Shami to surrender within 15 days. Shami is currently playing for India in the Test series in the Caribbean. An arrest warrant has also been issued against Shami's brother Hasid Ahmed.

Mohammed Shami has been given 15 days by a Kolkata court to appear before it and apply for bail. If he fails to do that, Shami will be arrested. In 2018, Mohammed Shami had been accused of domestic violence by his wife Hasin Jahan. Shami and his brother were booked under IPC section 498A for domestic violence. ACKM gave the order as Shami has not yet appeared before the court.
Shami is one of India's most celebrated cricketers. He has 131 wickets from 70 ODIs and recently reached the landmark of 150 wickets in his 42nd Test match. Soon after Hasin Jahan went public with her allegations, she and Shami were involved in a war-of-words in the media.
In April 2019, Hasin Jahan was taken into custody by police in Uttar Pradesh's Amroha in after she reached her husband's house and created a ruckus. She was later released on bail. However, after having torment in his life, Shami came back strongly to perform at his career-best in the Test cricket followed by World Cup.
