Post-poll skirmishes between TMC and BJP are being reported from different parts of the West Bengal state. Chandan Shau (36), a BJP activist was shot dead at Bhatpara in North 24 Parganas district of the state on Sunday night. Sources said, four miscreants on two bikes came and stopped him. One of them fired from close range. He was rushed to hospital but was declared brought dead.
Shau earlier used to be a TMC worker but recently crossed over. Earlier in Amethi Surender Singh was shot dead while he was sleeping outside his house. The assailants came on motorbikes and sprayed him with bullets.
Singh’s son Abhay told reporters, “We could not see the perpetrators but it is clear that Congress workers are behind this. My father was actively campaigning for Smriti Irani and the BJP.”
