Amid countrywide protests against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, BJP MLA Lila Ram said he can wipe out those opposing CAA and NRC in an hour once he gets an order. These provocative remarks seemingly directed at Muslims.
"This India doesn't belong to Gandhiji or Jawaharlal Nehru, but to PM Narendra Modi and Amit Shah," he said. "If we get a signal, within one hour we will wipe them out," he added. "My message was to illegal immigrants and terrorists," he later clarified.

Referring to the amended citizenship law, he said in a video clip that Modi had taken up this initiative. "If Muslims think there is a conspiracy to make them leave the country, there is nothing of that sort in this act. But those who have illegally entered the country will definitely have to go," he said.
