Congress leaders urging Rahul not to step down as Congress Chief!
Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy on Thursday met Congress President Rahul Gandhi and requested him 'not to step down from his post' following the Congress party's defeat in the Lok Sabha elections. He added that he also apprised Gandhi about the political developments in Karnataka. The meeting took place at Gandhi's residence and lasted for over 20 minutes.
Before this, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) leader MK Stalin spoke with the Congress president over the phone, asking asked Rahul Gandhi not to resign. Stalin had said that Gandhi had won the hearts of the people, according to a DMK release.
Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) General Secretary Bollu Kishan and former MP V Hanumantha Rao observed a day-long fast on Thursday, urging Congress President Rahul Gandhi not to resign from the post. TPCC President N Uttam Kumar Reddy said the party needed Rahul's leadership at this "crucial juncture". The fast was held at the Congress headquarters in the state.
