Madhya Pradesh Minister PC Sharma has landed himself in a controversy after he said, the pothole-ridden roads would soon make "pretty like actor-turned-politician Hema Malini's cheeks".
Congress minister PC Sharma compared pothole-ridden Bhopal roads to BJP National General Secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya's cheeks, adding, "They will be made 'Chaka Chak' like Hema Malini's cheeks, in 15 to 20 days."
He said, "Roads in the state were built like that of Washington and New York. What happened to these roads in just one rain? There are potholes everywhere." He was referring to the statements made by former Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan two years ago, that the state's pathways were far better than that of Washington.
Last week, Minister Varma said that the state government has asked the Central government to grant 1,188 crores to repair roads, culverts, and bridges under the National Disaster Response Fund(NDRF). Verma has alleged that the central government has not given even a single penny and they are neglecting the states that are not under their ruling.
