Hyderabad metro stops due to technical snags, passengers made to walk on tracks

A metro train halted between Begumpet and Ameerpet stations due to technical snag in Hyderabad on Tuesday. The passengers were then deboarded through emergency exits and made to walk on the tracks towards Ameerpet station.

"Pantograph of a train which draws power from the overhead electrical traction system got entangled with the overhead electrical line," an official said. Passengers noticed sparks from the overhead electrical lines and were de-boarded via the emergency exit.

In a cascading effect, metro train services got disrupted on the Nagole-Hitec City route. Pratap Singaraya, a passenger who was on the train, told. “Train stopped with a massive jerk after it left Begumpet station. After 15 minutes, an announcement had made regarding a technical snag and they asked us to move towards the emergency exit,” he said.

Another passenger, Sireesh Marshal, said, “The metro staff handled the issue very professionally, vacated the train in a calm manner, and guided the passengers to the station.” This is the fourth instance of a technical failure in the Metro train in the last six months.
