ICC Test Rankings: Kohli remains top, three Australians in top 5

ICC released its latest test rankings where the Team Indian skipper, Virat Kohli retained his top spot. Australian batsman Marnus Labuschagne, who scored 896 runs in Australian home summer, has toppled New Zealand captain Kane Williamson to become the third top-ranked Test batsman.

Australian opener David Warner jumped two places to get ranked fifth, while Steve Smith is second, 17 rating points behind Kohli.

The 25-year old Labuschagne has moved up one slot after scores of 215 and 59 that not only made him the ‘Player of the match’ but also helped him clinch the ‘player of the series’ award. Labuschagne ranked 110th at the beginning of last year but is now only behind India captain Virat Kohli and compatriot Steve Smith.

Meanwhile, Australia's fast bowler Mitchell Starc has equaled his career-best fifth position that he previously achieved in March 2018. He finished with 15 wickets in the series that included four in Sydney. Spinner Nathan Lyon’s 10-wicket haul has helped him advance five places to joint-14th.
