Another day… another authoritative performance from the team India. Batting first in the third test against South Africa, India has posted 224 for the loss of 3 wickets. At one stage India was at 39/3 until in form Rahane and Rohit gave no chance to the proteas’ bowlers what so ever.
Mayank and Pujara wickets taken by Kagiso Rabada for 10 & 0 respectively while the double centurion in the previous match, Virat Kohli got pinned at the front by Nortje for his debut test wicket.
Rohit Sharma has become the second Indian opener after Sunil Gavaskar to smash three hundred in a Test series. The 32-year-old, who scored 176 and 127 in the first Test, reached the three-figure mark off 130 deliveries in the third test against South Africa in Ranchi. Rohit also set the world record for most sixes in a Test series (17*). Rahane is looking really good with his 135 balls 89.
South Africa captain Faf du Plessis, who had lost nine consecutive tosses in Asia, brought teammate Temba Bavuma as proxy captain to call at the coin toss ahead of the third Test against India in Ranchi. Team India Captain Virat Kohli tossed the coin after which Bavuma incorrectly called heads. India decided to bat first.
India would have delighted with how things had panned out after that shaky start. Rohit Sharma has another test century to his name. South Africa needs to up the ante first thing tomorrow, otherwise, things could get very bleak.
