India defeated Bangladesh in the third T20I in Nagpur on Sunday to register a 2-1 victory in the three-match series. This is India's first T20I series victory at home this year after having lost to Australia in February (0-2) and drawing against South Africa (1-1) in September. India has won two of its five T20I series in 2019 so far.
Mahmadhullah won the toss and opted to bowl first. Rohit played on in the second over and KL Rahul and Dhawan scored some boundaries to keep India in the hunt. Dhawan’s aggressiveness got the better of him eventually as he departed for 19. Later Iyer and Rahul took their time to settle in but made sure to get those odd boundaries at the time. After 10 over mark, both batsmen took on the Bangladeshi bowling attack.
Rahul scored 52 off 35 deliveries with 7 boundaries in it. After Rahul fell, Shreyas unleashed himself by hitting three consecutive sixes in the over of Afif. After departed for 62, Manish Pandey finished the things well with his 13 ball 22. India finished the innings with 174 on the board.
In reply, Bangladesh’s top order got rattled by Deepak Chahar’s brilliant bowling display but Naim and Mithun played positively from the beginning. They stitched a 98 run partnership for the 3rd wicket and especially Naim took Chahal and Dubey on.
Rohit brought his trump card Chahar back who dismissed Mithun who scored 27 runs. In the next over, Dubey got rid of Naim who scored a brilliant 81 and knocked the dangerous Mushfiqur for a golden duck. Thereafter Bangladesh lost its way and lost the match 30 runs.
Deepak Chahar registered a hat-trick to his name and awarded as Man of the Match and Man of the Series.
