Ipl Rcb Opener Devdutt Padikkal Tests Positive For Covid
IPL 2021: RCB opener Devdutt Padikkal tests positive for Covid
In what could be considered as a big blow to Royal Challengers Bangalore, their star opener Devdutt Padikkal has tested positive for Covid. The franchise is yet to issue an official statement on the same and it is expected to do so in the next few hours.
Devdutt Padikkal was shifted to a quarantine facility immediately after he was diagnosed with Covid positive. He will be taking medications to help him in the recovery process.
The young player could be missing the early part of the IPL 2021 as he recovers from the deadly virus. This could dent RCB’s prospects at least to an extent. The team management was hoping Devdutt and Kohli would form a formidable partnership at the top of the order but they are forced to change their plans now.
The young left handed batsman was the top run-getter for RCB in last year’s IPL and he has been in great form in the domestic circuit as well.
If coming up against a rampant Mumbai Indians side in the tournament opener isn’t tough enough, RCB will be without their top scorer of 2020.
Very recently, Axar Patel who plays for Delhi Capitals had also contracted Covid. Devdutt Padikkal is the latest addition to the list.
RCB will be taking on Mumbai Indian in the first game of the tournament. The match will be played on 9th of this month.
