Mitchell Marsh opts out of of IPL 2021, SRH sign Jason Roy as replacement

SRH was quick to respond and the Hyderabad-based franchise signed in-form English opening batsman Jason Roy as Marsh’s replacement.

“Due to personal reasons, Mitchell Marsh will be opting out of #IPL2021. We would like to welcome @JasonRoy20 to the #SRHFamily!,” SRH’s social media handle posted.
Roy will be joining SRH in the next couple of days and start training for the forthcoming season. His brilliant run of form in recent India vs England series seems to have prompted SRH to sign him as the replacement for Mitchell Marsh.
Another interesting aspect is that Jason Roy has formed a formidable partnership with SRH’s regular opener, Jonny Bairstow, while playing for England. The duo has been largely successful over the past few months and the chance of these two opening the innings for SRH and Warner dropping to number 3 cannot be ruled out.
Coming to Marsh, he sprained his ankle in the opening game of the last year’s IPL and could not take part in the remainder of the tournament. SRH hoped he would come good in this year’s IPL but his decision to opt-out of the tournament has led to a change of plans.
SRH will be taking on Kolkata Knight Riders in their first game of IPL 2021. This match is scheduled to take place on 11th April.
