IPL 2021: SRH finally win a game, KKR bow to CSK despite heroics

Punjab were poor with the bat and set a target of 121 runs. SunRisers started off well with Warner and Bairstow keeping the scoreboard ticking with timely boundaries and regular strike rotation. They really did have the opportunity to chase down the target with many overs to spare but took the safe route and took the game till the 19th over.

The second game of the day is certainly the best match of the tournament thus far. KKR’s Pat Cummins, Russel, and Dinesh Karthik gave it their very best and almost caused a major upset to Chennai Super Kings.

Batting first, Chennai posted 220 on the board and KKR got off to the worst possible start as they were 31/5 at one stage. This is when Russel came in, smashing Chennai’s bowlers all around the park. Karthik kept up with the asking rate for a brief period after Russel’s dismissal but perished at a crucial juncture.

Just as a defeat looked overwhelmingly inevitable, Pat Cummins almost pulled off a miracle as he scored 66 off 34. He kept KKR in the chase with big hits but did not receive any support from other batsmen.

In the end, KKR lost the game by 18 runs despite heroic efforts from their star players.
