Former Nizamabad MP and daughter of Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, Kalvakuntla Kavitha, seems to be out of the media view since a long time. She is maintaining low profile after her defeat in the Lok Sabha elections the previous year. Even if she had been making public appearances every now and then, she had been away from the media. She was silent even at the Bathukamma festival which had her as its virtual ambassador. As such silence of her might be dangerous for her political career, she wanted to come into light of media.
On the lines of her brother, she had been asking her father to give her a top position in the party, according to the sources. They said, “Many parties have more than two working presidents and so, there is nothing wrong in nominating Kavitha as another working president so that she can gain control over the party.”
According to them, KCR promised to give her the Rajya Sabha seat in the ensuing elections in April/May. However, she doesn’t seem to be interested in this. The sources added, “She wants to play an active role in state politics, as she does not have anything to do in Rajya Sabha. At least in the past, she had ambitions of becoming a central minister but at present, after the Nizamabad defeat, her stakes are down. So, she prefers a party post than an RS seat.”
