The former chief minister of AP, Nara Chandra Babu Naidu had used his political experience and had halted the three capitals bill in the legislative council, as he had the majority over there. However, it looks like his own act is going to charge him high. Already in the assembly, CBN is helpless due to the YSRCP majority.
At least, in the legislative council, he had outnumbered YSRCP leaders. But it looks like, this is not going to last long. In the recent assembly sessions, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy had strongly condemned the decision of MA Sharif to refer the bills to the select committee. He asked whether the running of the council was necessary when it isn't working properly? He told that already around Rs 60 Crores of the public are being spent on this while it is not necessary. He added that only 6 States of India have this council. While other states didn't find it necessary, why should AP? Asked Jagan.
This legislative council was similarly questioned in 1985 by then chief minister of AP, NT Rama Rao as Congress had outnumbered TDP in the then council as similar to how TDP has outnumbered the YSRCP now. At that time, NT Rama Rao had decided to abolish the council. However, it was later reintroduced by Jagan’s father and former chief minister of AP, YS Rajasekhar Reddy. By Jagan’s such statements in the assembly, it looks like he too is willing to abolish the council soon to stop CBN from opposing his bills.
If this happens, then CBN’s son and TDP minister, Nara Lokesh might have nowhere to speak as he hasn’t even won as an MLA. It looks like, YSR has given Lokesh’s current political future by reintroducing council, while his son YS Jagan is ruining it.
