Jagga Reddy vies for Telangana Congress Chief post, and T Congress leaders fly to Delhi

Congress MLA from Sangareddy, T Jayaprakash ‘Jagga’ Reddy, has thrown his hat into the ring as a contender, for the post of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President.

Speaking to reporters on Thursday, he informed them that he had sent his bio-data to the All India Congress Committee (AICC) in New Delhi, with a request to consider him for leading the party in Telangana.

This, ahead of a proposed party meeting on November 16, which will include all top leaders of the Congress in Delhi.

Jagga Reddy said that they should give him a chance, whenever present TPCC chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy steps down.

Interestingly, All the key Congress leaders are in Delhi on Saturday. The reason? The Congress high command is likely to decide on the next PCC chief in Telangana.

Ever since incumbent PCC chief Uttam Kumar Reddy indicated that he was not willing to continue any more especially after the humiliating defeat of his wife Padmavathi Reddy in the Huzurnagar by-polls, there is a rush among the senior Congressmen to step into his shoes.

While both Uttam and CLP leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka is in Delhi to attend the PCC and CLP chiefs meet, other leaders also have shifted to the national capital to lobby for their case.

The PCC chief would be from either the Reddy community, which is the dominant political community in Telangana or from the BC community, a numerically strong and politically influential group. The Congress High Command is likely to announce the PCC chief in a day or two.
