'Jio' becomes India’s biggest telecom partner
Reliance Jio has become India's largest telecom company with 331.3 million subscribers, after Vodafone Idea on Friday reported a decline in its user base to 320 million in June 2019. Reliance Jio had a user base of 331.3 million in June 2019.
Jio achieved this feat when it comes to the subscribers base within 3 years after its launch. Vodafone Idea on Friday reported a decline in its customer base to 320 million in the first quarter of 2019-20 from 334.1 million in the March quarter.
Vodafone Idea had emerged as the largest telecom operator with over 400 million subscribers after Vodafone India and Idea Cellular completed the merger of a telecom services business. However, the merged entity continued to lose customers every month.
Giant business ambassador of India, Mukesh Ambani launched Jio three years ago at free of cost giving unlimited calls and internet which is a revolution at that time. When all other telecom companies revolted he reduced it to 4GB which was still a big deal. Later their prices were nowhere compared to other telecom companies and within no time emerged as the biggest telecom partner in the country.
