The hefty traffic fines imposed as per the new Motor Vehicle Act 2019 were justified by Telangana IT Minister KT Rama Rao during a recent media interaction. "Commuters should have a sense of fear and responsibility," he said. He added, "What’s wrong about imposing fine on those who violate traffic rules? I think people should have civic sense and behave responsibly."
New Motor Vehicle Act introduced by Centre won't be implemented in Telangana, as said by KCR, without any hesitation in contrary to the views expressed by KTR. Regarding the Panel to be formed to study the Motor Vehicle Act before implementing it, he had informed. the BJP which is facing the wrath of public for hefty fines was pushed into defense by KCR's this step. A refined version of the Motor Vehicle Act might be introduced by the TRS government.
With the statement issued by the Chief Minister in Assembly, Commuters in Telangana breathed a sigh of relief, despite unclear reasons. There seems to be confidence among them, that the government will focus on reducing fines from now on. It is yet to see, how Andhra Pradesh’s Chief Minister, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is going to react over this when his state is concerned in adopting those traffic rules.
