Madhya Pradesh Governor Lalji Tandon passes in Lucknow

Madhya Pradesh Governor Lalji Tandon passed away in a Lucknow hospital to which he was admitted after complaints of breathing problems. Tandon was 85. Lalji Tandon's son Ashutosh Tandon took to his Twitter to break the news of his passing.
 
Lalji Tandon was on a ventilator after complaints of breathing problems and fever, says a PTI report.
 
" बाबूजी नहीं रहे ," Ashutosh Tandon tweeted. Messages of condolences and respect soon followed.
 
Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted out his condolences. MP Modi wrote, "Shri Lalji Tandon will be remembered for his untiring efforts to serve society. He played a key role in strengthening BJP in Uttar Pradesh. He made a mark as an effective administrator, always giving importance to public welfare. Anguished by his passing away."
 
President Ram Nath Kovind wrote, "In the passing away of Madhya Pradesh Governor Shri Lal Ji Tandon, we have lost a legendary leader who combined cultural sophistication of Lucknow and acumen of a national stalwart. I deeply mourn his death. My heartfelt condolences to his family and friends.”
 
Digvijaya Singh, former MP CM was among the first to pay his respects. Singh tweeted, "I am deeply saddened to hear the news of the sad demise of His Excellency the Governor Shri Lalji Tandon. The generation of the BJP/ RSS involved in the service of people is now ending. May his soul rest in peace. My condolences to the family members of Tandon."
 
Union Textile Minister Smriti Irani tweeted, "I am pained to hear about the sad demise of Shri Lalji Tandon. A stalwart, Babuji helped pave the way for many youngsters, guiding us gently on our ideological journey. My condolences to Gopal bhaiya & family. Om Shanti."
 
Tandon was a veteran politician who served alongside former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee. He was one of the most formidable politicians of the country. May he rest in peace.
