Many cabinet Ministers fumbled in the oath-taking ceremony!
Two Ministers of State in PM Narendra Modi's newly-elected government, Mansukh Lal Mandaviya (minister of state with Independent charge) and Faggan Singh Kulaste (Mos) Ratan Lal Kataria and Nityanand Rai did not repeat ‘I’ in the second instance on Thursday.
The word is usually repeated with the President, once when they are taking the oath of office and the second time during the oath of secrecy. They were intervened by President Ram Nath Kovind in between their oaths. Besides them, ministers Nityanand Rai and Rattan Lal Kataria were intervened by the President for omitting words and incorrect pronunciation.
The other leader who fumbled during the oath taking was Raosaheb Danve from Maharashtra. He also ended his oath with ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’. Nityanand Rai too fumbled as he went about his oath. Ratan Lal Kataria was corrected by the President as well.
A total of 24 cabinet ministers took oath on Thursday, including BJP president Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, Nitin Gadkari, Smriti Irani, former foreign secretary S Jaishankar. Among the nine MoS (independent charge) are Santosh Kumar Gangwar, Rao Inderjit Singh, Shripad Yesso Naik, Jitendra Singh, Kiren Rijiju and Prahlad Singh Patel.
