Nearly 26 people, including 22 students, injured after masked miscreants with sticks and rods caused violence inside Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) for close to three hours on Sunday evening. "A large crowd with covered faces abused us in Hindi. When I started retorting, they hit me with a metal rod on my head," a student said.
The Delhi Police on Monday registered an FIR in connection with the violence at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). Moreover, 23 students who admitted to a hospital after sustaining injuries during the violence have also discharged. Masked miscreants, allegedly from ABVP, entered the JNU campus on Sunday and attacked students and teachers.
JNU Vice-Chancellor M Jagadesh Kumar on Monday appealed students of the university to maintain peace and stated that the top priority is to protect the academic interests of students. This comes a day after masked miscreants entered the campus and attacked students and teachers. "The University stands by all the students to facilitate their pursuit of academic activities," Kumar said.
