'Power Bill' shock for KCR's Kaleshwaram project!
In the very first month of its inauguration, Kaleshwaram lift irrigation project delivered a shock to KCR in the form of 'power bill'. When it was inaugurated by AP CM YS Jagan and KCR, water is lifted from Medigadda to Annaram barrages through six motors since June 21 from Kannepally pump house.
The whole bill persons to this one pump house only. Also from Annaram to Sundilla, lifting of water has just commenced, the bill of which is yet to be issued. Among the 20 pump houses that are set up to lift water to various barrages as part of Kaleshwaram project, Kannepally pump house is only one.
It is yet to become fully operational. Imagine the situation when all the 20 pump houses run 24x7, if only one pump house at Kannepally, that too in operation partially, could cost Rs 20 crore per month. When all the pump houses work, the power bill is expected to cross Rs 10,000 crore per year.
Even if the power bill reaches Rs 15,000 crore per year in the coming days, there might be nothing to wonder. TS Transco and Genco are clueless when the government will pay the bill because any delay would only push them into financial crisis and adversely impact power sector in Telangana and that is why they are more worried than the Telangana government and KCR.
