Reactions of various ex-cricketers about controversial WC final
It has been two days since World Cup winner was announced but the debate goes on till now. We have no idea when it ends but here are the reactions of various ex-players about the World Cup final.
Talking about 2019 World Cup final which was decided by boundary count after a tied match and tied Super Over, ex-India cricketer Sachin Tendulkar said there should be another Super Over to decide the winner.
He added that the number of boundaries shouldn't be considered. He further said that the 'two Super Overrule' shouldn't be restricted to World Cup finals.
Reacting to criticism over boundary rule that decided World Cup winner, Harsha Bhogle tweeted, "The easiest thing...is to rant about the rules."
"There are pluses and minuses with every system but teams and players are shown [the rules] and they agree to play within them," he added. He further stated the boundary rule has been there for a long time.
New Zealand coach Gary Stead has said sharing World Cup trophy in case of a tie in final should be considered. He added that ICC must've never expected such a World Cup final when they were writing the rules.
Team India opener Rohit Sharma opined that ICC needed to look into some rules and former Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh opined the same.
