After the World Cup, MS Dhoni’s return to team India is a big question in the cricketing circles. BCCI cited Dhoni’s entry into the military as the reason for his exclusion from the West Indies series. But he was not selected for T20I’s against South Africa that raised the doubts his presence in upcoming T20 World Cup in Australia next year.
Under such circumstances, Former India opener Gautam Gambhir has said that it is time for Indian cricket to look beyond MS Dhoni. "It's time for some of the youngsters to get groomed in the next four-five years, because ultimately it's not about Dhoni, it's about the country," he added. "I do not see Dhoni playing the next World Cup," he further said.
Dhoni’s retirement speculations have been doing the rounds ever since the former India captain made himself unavailable for selection after the 2019 ODI World Cup. As he doesn’t see Dhoni playing the next World Cup for India, Gambhir wants the chances to be given to players like Rishabh Pant or Sanju Samson as they will be the players to contribute to the team’s success in the next cricket extravaganza.
