Union Budget 2020-21: Centre wants to develop 5 new smart cities in India

The ongoing budget presentation in the parliament appears to be a well balanced within a narrow contrast. Equal importance has given to the education, sanitation and health sectors which are the crucial wings of our Indian economy next to some other sectors. Now, Modi’s government, considering the aspect of technology and urban development, came up with the idea of development of five new smart cities in India for the first time.

While presenting the Union Budget 2020-21, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced that five new smart cities will get developed in the country. The cities will get developed with states in private partnership mode, she added. She further said that India needs to boost domestic manufacturing and attract investment in electronics manufacturing.

The proposed scheme is to encourage electronics manufacturing. They will give the details later and the scheme is to also focus on medical manufacturing.
