What is the 'Power Player' concept BCCI is planning to introduce in IPL 2020?

Indian Premier League is undoubtedly a revolution in the world cricket, and this league is the top T20I league in the world. A lot of new things got introduced in this tournament which also includes the strategic time-out, the concept which the BBL is set to implement in the upcoming season. The BCCI now is planning to introduce a new concept ‘Power Player’ in the next season.

According to a BCCI official, the ‘Power Player’ concept in IPL 2020 will allow teams to substitute batsmen or bowlers at the fall of a wicket or at the end of an over. The teams will get asked to name their 15 players instead of 11 for every match. However, the substituted player should be in the 15-man squad, whom they had announced before the match. The concept has the potential to change the game, the official added.

They will discuss this idea at the IPL Governing Council meeting on Tuesday. If all goes well in the meeting and the idea goes ahead, the BCCI is planning to try the concept first in the upcoming Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
