PM Narendra Modi addressed an election rally in Delhi's Ramlila Maidan for the upcoming Assembly elections on Sunday. He spoke on the Citizenship (Amendment) Act and the National Register of Citizens, saying that it was a lie that sending Muslims to detention centres is a lie. He added that the Congress and its allies and Urban Naxals are spreading this rumor.
Referring to anti-CAA protests, PM Narendra Modi said, "What will you get by pelting stones at the policemen?" He added, "After India gained freedom, more than 33,000 policemen have given their lives for the security of the citizens and peace." He stated, "When any problem arises, police don't ask your religion."
Referring to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee supporting anti-CAA protests, PM Narendra Modi said, "A few years ago, she had stood up in the Parliament and asked to stop infiltration from Bangladesh and wanted help for the refugees." PM Modi added, "I want to ask Mamata didi, what changed? Why're you spreading false rumors? Why're you so afraid?"
