Roudram Ranam Rudhiram or
RRR is S S Rajamouli's next big-budget project after his Baahubali franchise. The film boasts a stunning cast. The film stars
Jr NTR and
Ram Charan in lead roles. Additionally, the film also marks the Tollywood debut of the Bollywood actors
Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn. In a recent interview with Rediff, director S S Rajamouli spoke about why he cast the two actors. He also spoke about their roles in the film.
When asked about the thought process behind casting Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn, this what the star director has to say. S S Rajamouli said, "Ajay sir's character is extremely important for the film. I needed an actor whose face and every word that he utters oozes honesty and integrity. I needed an actor the whole country would believe in. We are extremely happy and grateful that he accepted the role and played it to perfection. Similarly, with Alia, I needed an actress who could stand her ground between Tarak and Charan, who are extremely talented actors. By the way, this is not a triangle love story. She can be innocent, vulnerable, yet be extremely resilient. That is the reason I went for her. The shoot, which was supposed to happen this month, got cancelled due to the pandemic.
We need to rework the dates and schedules. In large scale films, it is very important to have the perfect balance between art and commerce. One cannot be sacrificed for the sake of the other."
Seems like the pan-India appeal was not the only thing that has lead to this casting choice. Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn were cast to honour the film's storyline, the other cast members and the film’s huge budget.
