Nirbhaya rape convicts got hanged in Tihar Jail at 05:30 AM IST. Many in the mainstream media including social media are commenting that Nirbhaya has got justice and her soul is at peace. What has happened since the beginning of this case?

 
On December 16, 2012, six persons raped Nirbhaya while she was travelling with her friend. On a moving bus, she got attacked. She was seriously injured in the attack and later taken to Safdar Ganj Hospital. The next day, on the 17th, the whole country protested. The police identified the culprits. The accused persons are namely, Ram Singh, Mukesh, Vinay Sharma, and Pawan Gupta.
 
On the 20th, the officers, who had taken Nirbhaya's friend's testimony, identified Akshay Thakur as the sixth accused in the case. The next day the police went to Bihar and arrested him. On the 22nd the doctors shifted her to Delhi and taken to the Statement. On the 25th the health of the victim was concerned. On the 26th, she was again taken to Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore for better treatment. Nirbhaya died on the 29th due to poor health. Murder cases have registered against the convicts.
 
On January 2, 2013, Chief Justice Altamas set up fast-track courts for the trial of sexual assault cases. The trial began in Fast Track Court from the 7th. On March 11, one of the accused, Ram Singh, committed suicide in Tihar Jail. On August 31, police sentenced the minor to three years imprisonment. The remaining accused were sentenced to death on September 13. On March 15, 2014, the Supreme Court stayed the death sentence. The Supreme Court upheld the death sentence of the accused on May 5.
 
On May 4, the Supreme Court reserved its verdict on Vinay Sharma and Pawan Gupta's review petitions. Akshay Thakur filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking a review of his death sentence on December 10, 2019. The court rejected Akshay's petition on December 13. The Supreme Court struck down Akshay's petition on the 18th.
 
On January 7, 2019, a Delhi court issued a death warrant for the execution of four accused on January 22. On October 9, the accused filed a curative petition in the Supreme Court. On the same day, another accused, Vinay Kumar, filed a curative petition. Mukesh filed a pardon petition to the President on the 14th. On the 14th, Vinay Sharma and Mukesh curated petitions. On January 14, Mukesh approached a Delhi court on a death warrant.
 
Mukesh asked to postpone his execution as the pardon petition is pending. President Ramnath Kovind rejected the Mukesh pardon petition on January 17. The Delhi court issued a death warrant on February 17 for hanging them. On January 18, Pawan Gupta filed a petition in the Supreme Court claiming he was a juvenile. On January 20, the court struck down Pawan's petition. On January 25, Mukesh went to the Supreme Court to overturn the President's pardon petition.
 
On January 28, the Supreme Court filed a curative petition in the accused caught. On January 29, the court struck down the petition of Mukesh, who approached the Supreme Court over the revocation of the President's pardon petition. Vinay Sharma apologizes to President on January 29. On January 30, a petition got filed in the Delhi court seeking the suspension of the death warrant issued on February 1. On January 20, the court struck down the Akshay Curative Petition.
 
On January 31, Pawan Gupta filed a review petition in the Supreme Court challenging his Juvenile Petition. The Supreme Court struck down the Pawan Gupta review petition. On January 31, the Delhi court adjourned the death warrant. The Center moved to the High Court against the Trial Court ruling on February 1. On February 5, the Delhi High Court ordered that all the accused should get hanged at once. Akshay dismisses petition on February 5 On February 11, Vinay filed a writ petition in the Supreme Court rejecting his pardon petition.
 
On February 14, the Supreme Court upheld the Vinay Sharma petition. On March 17, the Delhi court issued a death warrant for the accused on March 3. On February 20, the Delhi Election Code and Vinay Sharma filed a complaint with the Election Commission alleging that the pardon was pending. On February 28, Pawan Gupta filed a curative petition in the Supreme Court seeking to change his death sentence to life imprisonment. Akshay again filed a pardon petition on February 29 at the President. On March 2, the Supreme Court struck down Pawan Gupta's curative petition.
 
On March 2, the Delhi court stayed the execution of the accused. On March 4, the President struck down Pawan Gupta's pardon petition. A Delhi court on March 5 issued a death warrant for the execution of the accused on March 20. On March 12, the family members of the accused wrote to the President to pardon them. The three accused approached the International Court of Appeal on March 16 to stay their sentence. On March 18, Mukesh Singh challenged the trial court's order in the Delhi High Court.
 
Akshay Singh's wife filed a divorce petition in the Bihar court. On March 19, Akshay approached the Supreme Court challenging his pardon. On March 19, the Supreme Court struck down a petition filed by Akshay challenging the Delhi High Court order. On March 19, the Delhi Patiala Court refused to stay the death warrant on March 20. On March 19, Akshay filed a petition in the Supreme Court challenging the President's dismissal of the pardon petition. On March 19, the Delhi Court clarified that the reasons for the stay of convicts are not proper. They executed at Tihar Jail on March 20 at 5:30 AM.
