Bhoot: Part One - The Haunted Ship: Vicky Kaushal's horror flick has a slow start at the box office on its first day

Vicky Kaushal has been busy promoting his latest film all over the place. However, the film has started slowly at the box office after its release on February 21. Bhoot: Part 1- The Haunted Ship collected a net margin of only Rs. 5.10 crores. The film has also trailed behind Ayushmann Khuranna's Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan which made Rs. 9.55 crores despite opening on the same day.

The latest big-budget horror film Bhoot directed by Bhanu Pratap Singh and produced partly by Karan Johar himself. The coming few days will determine whether Karan Johar's attempt at producing a horror film has been a success or a misfire in the wrong direction.

Sadly Bhoot: Part 1: The Haunted Ship hasn't sat well with film critics either. While some have praised Kaushal's performance many have noticed flaws in the story of the film. The film is also written by Bhanu Pratap Singh. The horror relies entirely on cheap jumpscares. The psychological aspect of Kaushal's character is also not developed well to the disappointment of many.

The numbers that Bhoot Part 1- The Haunted Ship did collect are an even bigger disappointment as it failed to garner profit on the holiday of Maha Shivratri. Some film critics have pointed out that a large chunk of the film's audience is just loyal horror fans who came to check out the latest film.

Vicky Kaushal had earlier hinted at Bhoot getting further sequels depending on how successful it is at the box office. Looking at its current performance it doesn't seem like Kaushal will be looking forward to doing any more horror films anytime soon.
