Box Office Collections For Varisu: Vijay's Film Enjoys A Sensational Tuesday And Earns Another 20 Crores Or More In India
Varisu had a terrific Tuesday at the Indian box office, wrapping off a successful holiday season. At the Indian box office, the movie had its fourth consecutive day with receipts of at least Rs. 20 crores.
With a phenomenal Tuesday at the Indian box office, Varisu helped to finish off the holiday season on a high note. With a very strong hold in the states of Tamil Nadu and Telugu, the movie had its fourth consecutive day at the Indian box office grossing at least Rs. 20 crores. The movie made approximately Rs. 145 crores at the box office in India over the course of seven days.
The movie barely lost any ground in Tamil Nadu from Monday, despite the fact that the "day after Pongal" is usually the busiest day of the holiday period. This can be explained by the fact that film was experiencing capacity issues at the majority of theatres, and when that capacity was reached, demand shifted to the next day. The movie made approximately Rs. 15 crores in Tamil Nadu yesterday, bringing its seven-day total to Rs. 95 crore in the state. Despite facing fierce competition, the seven-day receipts are comparable to those of other recent Vijay starrers, which have made around Rs. 100 crores.
Given how well it has done over the past four days and its current trend, the movie should become Vijay's highest-grossing in Tamil Nadu. However, that will depend on how well the movie does after the holiday season. Even though today is a business day, some locations may benefit from holiday remains. Additionally, there is a huge overflow demand for the movie. The real test will be how the second Friday fares, and it is anticipated that this will continue tomorrow as well.
The movie is still doing well in the Telugu states. Sankranti is a long vacation in coastal Andhra, which remained flat from Monday until yesterday. Telangana and Ceded districts also fared very well. The movie has already made more than Rs. 18 crores in Telugu states and is expected to easily surpass Vijay's previous record in those states.
Karnataka and Kerala also fared well. The final total may be a respectable sum, depending on how well they perform in the second week. These two appeared to be severe underperformers after the first three days, but a positive turnaround occurred during the next three days.
