Love, Aaj Kal starring Sara Ali Khan and Kartik Aryan has failed to grab the attention of critics but is going well with the fans. The film which is directed by Imtiaz Ali collected a nominal Rs. 12 crores at the box office on the first day of its release. While Imtiaz is known for his directing prowess his latest film has tried and failed to capture that same beat among film reviewers.
Love, Aaj Kal is a romantic drama film that uses the same name as the first Love, Aaj Kal film. The first film starred Deepika Padukone and Saif Ali Khan. Love, Aaj Kal ( the first one ) was also directed by Imtiaz Ali. The film follows the story of two different couples over a vast time difference.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted out saying, "Love Aaj Kal packs a solid total on Day 1. Got a boost due to Valentine's Day 2020. Metros excellent, contribute to the big total. Tier-2 cities and mass belt ordinary/low." Adarsh also questioned the film's ability to gain double digits collections on the second and third days.
However, Love, Aaj Kal has the highest first-day collection among all of Kartik Aryan's films. On the other hand of the stick, Kartik Aryan's lowest first-day collection came after the release of Pyaar Ka Punchnama which raked in only Rs. 92 lakhs on its first day.
The film is being criticized for its bad acting and poor direction from an otherwise famed director. The film also stars Randeep Hooda aside from the main cast of Kartik Aryan and Sara Ali Khan.
