Pathaan Surpasses Bajrangi Bhaijaan To Become The Fifth Highest-Grossing Indian Film, Set To Hit The 1000 Cr. Mark Soon

Pathaan, starring Shah Rukh Khan, has surpassed Salman Khan's Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Aamir Khan's Secret Superstar to become the fifth highest-grossing Indian film in history. According to Yash Raj Films, the movie has currently earned a total of 946 cr. around the world. It still follows RRR by SS Rajamouli, Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, KGF Chapter 2, and Dangal, the only Bollywood film.

The plot of Pathaan centers on the titular spy (SRK), who returns from exile to prevent Outfit X, a terrorist organization led by John Abraham's Jim, from attacking India. Deepika Padukone portrays the female lead. Ashutosh Rana and Dimple Kapadia also play important roles.

YRF tweeted on Monday that Pathaan had collected a gross worldwide collection of 946 cr., making it the highest-grossing Hindi film in Indian cinema history (original language). According to the studio, the gross take in India is Rs.588 cr. (net: Rs.489 cr.), and the gross take abroad is Rs.358 cr. Following Salman Khan's Ek Tha Tiger (2012), Tiger Zinda Hai (2017), and War (2019), which also starred Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff, Pathaan is the fourth film in YRF's spy universe.

Shah Rukh is thrilled about Pathaan's success and praises Siddharth Anand for making an action movie that is "‘fun, good looking and technically forward". In a behind-the-scenes film made by YRF, he declared, “I think this genre of film nobody knows better than Siddharth. He knows this kind of cinema very well. I just love the world that Siddharth makes".

He added, “It's an action film that is close to my heart. I think it is made with a lot of goodness by a lot of good people... I think it's cinematic, which is the call of the day. It's a film you want to watch on a big screen".
