Tanhaji: Unsung Warrior's box office report of day 1 is out. As per BOI, the Ajay Devgn, Kajol and Saif Ali Khan starrer has seen a great first-day collection as the movie has made Rs 14.5 crore on its opening day. However, the numbers are lower than the early estimates that got released. The estimate for the movie was Rs 16 crore and the movie has expectations to make between Rs 10-15 crore on its opening day. The numbers are lower than the early estimates as North and East recorded lesser collections. However, the historical drama can see a rise in its earnings on the weekend.
As per the report, the collections from Maharashtra are great, however, the Mumbai numbers are not as good enough as anticipated. It faces tough competition from Rajinikanth's Darbar in the Southern states, it has left Deepika Padukone starrer Chhapaak way behind. Chhapaak has not gotten a good response at the box office in comparison to Tanhaji. It minted Rs 4.25 crore net. Tanhaji is also released in more screens than Chhapaak. Tanhaji was allotted 3000 screens while Chhapaak received 1500 screens.
The movie was directed by Om Raut and produced by Ajay Devgn Films and T-Series. The movie is set in the backdrop of the 17th century and is based on the life of Tanaji Malusare, who was the military leader of Chhatrapati Shivaji.
