One actor who commands a really good following in Tamil cinema and Tamil Nadu currently is Ilayathalapathy Vijay. Every single film release of his is considered as a festival by his fans, and he has now come up with a film release for this festival season.
He teamed up with director Vamshi Paidipally for his latest film, titled Varisu. The film was released on January 11th, for this year's Sankranthi. The film got a good response in Tamil Nadu and is currently going strong at the box office. The Telugu version of the film was released on January 14th, with Vaarasudu as the title, to accommodate other Telugu releases. Despite that, the film has not been able to do well in Telugu.
Director Vamshi Paidipally has made his Kollywood debut with this film, and so has producer Dil Raju, who produced the movie. He managed to score a really good hit, as the movie has managed to collect well over Rs. 100 Crores.
Rashmika Mandanna is the leading lady of the film, while SS Thaman is the music director. His songs and background score turned out to be huge assets for the film.
The film also features an ensemble cast that consists of Jayasudha, Sarath Kumar, Srikanth, Shaam, and Prakash Raj. While Varisu managed to impress the Tamil audience, it turned out to be a failure in the Telugu states, despite Dil Raju's many attempts.
