Of late, music videos have become the flavor of the season. Now, Gouri K Kishan and Anagha have joined hands for Maghizini, which has crossed more than 2 million views on YouTube. The song has been receiving praises for being the first LGBTQ music video in Tamil. The music video was directed by VG Balasubramaniam. He also said that he is happy about the response Maghizini has been receiving. He is happy that the song has started a conversation about same-sex relationships.
In an interview with The Times of India, director VG Balasubramanian said, "I had directed a short film called Kambilipoochi, which had won the second prize in a short film competition. That win gave me recognition in the film fraternity and I was introduced to a production house. They wanted to do a different music video and suggested the concept of a same-sex relationship. We had approached more than 20 actors for the project. Eventually, Gouri and Anagha agreed to do it. I really loved Govind Vasantha’s music in 96, and when I approached him for this project, he was very open-minded and immediately agreed. Also, the lyrics were written after the video was shot and Madhan Karky elevated the visuals with his lyrical prowess.”
