Abhimanyu Dassani and Sanya Malhotra to star in Karan Johar’s next Netflix film!

In the current scenario, the OTT platforms have become a beacon of hope for the film industry. Moving forward, the platforms may just be here to stay. Several actors like Saif Ali Khan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Abhishek Bachchan, Manoj Bajpayee have already forayed into the OTT world. Soon actors like Akshay Kumar , Anil Kapoor and Bobby Deol will be making their entries. Filmmaker Karan Johar too has signed a multi-film deal with the OTT giant Netflix. The latest buzz is that he is looking forward to making a 'made of Netflix' film starring Abhimanyu Dassani and Sanya Malhotra. It looks like the new-gen actors too will follow the lead and embrace OTT platforms.

Abhimanyu Dassani and Sanya Malhotra will feature in a rom-com. Karan Johar's digital production company Dharmatic Entertainment will bankroll the film. The rom-com is to be a simple love story with some dramatic twists. Rumour has it the film was to hit the floor in June and was already in pre-production when the coronavirus broke out. The film now stands indefinitely pushed until normalcy returns.

Vivek Soni will direct the rom-com. He has previously assisted directors like Vinil Mathew (Hasee Toh Phasee) and Abhishek Chaubey (Sonchiriya). While Soni has directed a short film starring Priyanshu Painyuli called Bawdi and an anthology called Chaar Cutting, the Netflix film will mark his directorial debut.

The rom-com will be Karan Johar's fifth film made in association with Netflix. The first film Guilty aired earlier this year in March. An anthology titled The Other and a family drama starring Madhuri Dixit tentatively titled The Heroine are in the works. He is also said to be backing Poo Diaries, a spin-off show based on Kareena Kapoor's Poo from Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham.
