Over the years more and more influential film stars have come to be a part of protests large and small. While Deepika stands up for JNU students in India, Joaquin Phoenix showed up at a climate change protest in Washington earlier today. Alongside Phoenix stood others actors like Martin Sheen and Susan Sarandon.
The Joker star earlier urged the larger Hollywood fraternity at the Golden globes addressing the issue of climate change. At the protest he addressed the gathering briefly and said, "Sometimes we wonder what can we do in this fight against climate change, and there is something that you can do today and tomorrow, by making a choice about what you consume.”
He also focused on cutting down on unnecessary items like meat as the meat industry is one of the most polluting ones all across the globe.
Phoenix later got arrested by the Washington police alongside the other stars and public that were protesting. The protests are mainly against the governance and policies of current American president, Donald Trump is known for his ludicrous comments on climate. He is also responsible for pulling America out of the Paris Climate Change Agreement.
