Arjun Reddy was earlier remade into Tamil as Vikram with Dhruv Vikram as the lead and Bala as the director. But the producers were unhappy with Bala's output and decided to change the director. Thus, they reshot the entire film and released it as Adithya Varma. That film failed to perform well at the box office. Producer of the movie, Mukesh Mehta felt that instead of all the things, he should have simply remade the film with Vijay Deverakonda in Tamil.
Speaking in an interview with the Film Companion, Mukesh Mehta said that they had to take a few harsh decisions as they are launching star hero Vikram's son. He added that there is no grudge on Bala to reject his version. Mukesh is now planning to release Bala's version to the audiences. The team is currently preparing the film for censor certification. They are yet to decide whether to have a theatrical release for the film or screen it on OTT and television platforms.
Mukesh also added that Bala's version is quite darker compared to the original. While the original is three-hour-long, Bala's film is just about two hours of duration. He also added that some of the major characters like the hero's grandma and a few other family members are not present in Bala's version. Mukesh said that the details on the release of Bala's Varma will be out soon. Let us hope that the producer makes some money on this project also which will be a savior from losses.
