Amid the coronavirus lockdown, the nation is homebound. With not much to do at home for an extended period of time, people of the nation wished for the re-telecast of Ramayan. Their wishes came true when Ramanand Sagar’s show made a comeback on DD National owing to public demand. Another popular show Circus starring Shah Rukh Khan is also making a comeback. Ramayan and Cirus are two of Doordashan’s most popular shows. Heres a list of other Doordashan shows that entertained the mass over the years. There surely deserves a comeback too!
 
1) Hum Log was India’s first soap opera that aired in 1984. It followed the tale of a middle-class family dealing with everyday problems.
 
2) Buniyaad was one of TV’s most popular shows. The Ramesh Sippy and Jyoti Sarup directorial drama series dealt with the Partition of India and its aftermath. It starred Alok Nath, who played the role of Master Haveliram, a freedom fighter, and patriot.
 
3) Another popular middle-class storyline was the sitcom Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi. It followed the lives of a couple who were trying to cope up with various funny circumstances that were thrown at them.
 
4) Nukkad starred Dilip Dhawan, Avtar Gill, Pavan Malhotra and Rama Vij in the lead roles. It depicted the struggles of the lower-income labor class in cities
 
5) Fauji was Shah Rukh Khan’s debut in the small screen industry. It was a military drama that followed the life of Lt. Abhimanyu Rai.
 
6) Bharat Ek Khoj was based on Jawaharlal Nehru’s The Discovery of India. It was a historical drama that covered a 5000-year history of India from its beginnings to independence from the British in 1947.
 
7) Malgudi Days shot actor Shankar Nag to fame. Malgudi Days focused on the lives of the people living in the small town of Malgudi and how they faced trials and tribulations.
 
8) Shekhar Suman, Farida Jalal, Vishal Singh, Navin Nischol starrer Dekh Bhai Dekh, was a hit comedy series of the early 90s. It showed the issues of a joint family.
 
9) Every 90s kid remembers Mukesh Khanna’s Shaktimaan, India’s own superman. Shaktimaan gained superhuman powers through meditation and five elements of nature - space, earth, air, fire, and water. The show is one of India's most popular shows ever.
