The makers of Gangubai Kathiawadi have gone through massive ups and downs during the shooting for the film. First, their director Sanjay Leela Bhansali had tested positive days after the teaser of the film was released on SLB's birthday. But as soon as they resumed shooting for the much-anticipated film, its lead star Alia Bhatt announced her reports of COVID as positive. While Alia has quarantined herself at her residence in Mumbai, meanwhile, Ajay Devgn shot for his part in the film.
A source from the sets told a website that now even Ajay Devgn has finally completed shooting for the film. After his last collaboration with Sanjay Leela Bhansali in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Ajay has reunited with him after almost two decades. "They last worked together in 1999 in Hum…Dil De Chuke Sanam. Since then they have been trying to come together again. But something or the other kept going wrong. They’re finally collaborating again and it seems like they never stopped working together," tells the source.
While there were reports that Sanjay actually wanted to cast Ajay for Bajirao Mastani, he had denied the film due to his similar production film called Tanjahi. But now, the two have finally got a chance to work together and if sources are to be believed, Sanjay Leela Bhansali has decided to extend Ajay's role in Gangubai Kathiawadi. Meanwhile, the surge in cases in the country has brought many filmy shoots to a complete halt. For instance, Ram Setu, whose lead actor Akshay Kumar has tested positive for the virus and Nushrratt and Jacqueline have both quarantined themselves.
