Ajith's Valee To Be Remade In Hindi. SJ Suryah To Go To Court

Boney Kapoor seems to be securing the remake rights of several films. From doing PInk and Article 15 to now securing the remake rights of Valee, he has done it all. Directed by SJ Suryah, Valee featured Ajith in two rules. Now, we hear that the producer and director will battle it out in the court. In an interview with The Times of India, a source close to SJ Suryah said, "Vaalee is a film that is dear to SJ Suryah because it was his debut film and gave him his big break in the industry. He is keen on remaking the film in Hindi, and starring in it as well unless Ajith wants to act in it. This is why he filed a case to stop Boney Kapoor from remaking the film. However, while the case is still on, the court had recently passed a separate interim order allowing the producer to start work on his Hindi remake. It is this order that SJ Suryah is planning to challenge in the Supreme Court.”

The source further added, "In that judgment, the court had mentioned that while the producer had the right to dub the film, the remake rights belonged to the scriptwriter, and unless the writer had entered into an agreement assigning the rights to the producer, the latter would need the former’s consent to remake a film. So, SJ Suryah is confident that justice will be done in his case because he, as the scriptwriter of Vaalee, holds rights to remake the film."
