Akshay Kumar likes a video on Twitter defaming Jamia protests, calls it a mistake

A screenshot of the actor’s ‘like’ on the post, angered people on the internet who began sharing the picture and calling the actor out for the same.

Akshay Kumar, however, was quick to issue a clarification about his stance on the issue and explained the reason for his ‘like’ on the said post.

“Regarding the ‘like’ on the tweet of Jamia Milia students, it was by mistake. I was scrolling and accidentally it must have pressed and when I realised I immediately unliked it as In no way do I support such acts,” Akshay tweeted.

Police brutality on students on Sunday, prompted hashtags like #JamiaMilia and #JamiaProtest to trend on social media. The police allegedly entered the campus in New Delhi and resorted to firing and throwing tear gas shells in order to break up a protest that left several injured and the lack of support by Bollywood celebrities, superstars, and influencers was heavily criticised and compared to the support received from Hollywood celebrities who spoke up on the issue.
