Bollywood star Akshay Kumar is on the frontline when India was severely hit by the coronavirus crisis. The actor first came forward from the Hindi film industry and offered a donation of Rs. 25 crores to the PM-CARES fund. Now, he has offered to help the iconic theatre multiplex of Mumbai, Gaiety-Galaxy. This happened when Gaiety-Galaxy's owner Manoj Desai sought help from banks to give him a loan to pay the salaries for the theatre workers.
The film industry is one of the most affected industries due to coronavirus pandemic. All the film productions are on a halt and the releases got postponed. Theatres got shut down as well. This has made theatres to get into deficits as there is no business. One such affected theatre is Gaiety-Galaxy. Thus, its owner Manoj Desai approached banks to help him in paying wages to the workers. After knowing the situation, Akshay called Manoj and offered to help him. As they were able to collect sufficient funds right now, Manoj had to decline Akshay's offer.
Manoj revealed the news to a media daily. He further said that he got a call from Akshay three days back. The actor offered to give financial aid if the problem persists in the future. Manoj was quite overwhelmed with the offer of Akshay but he wanted to sustain on himself. He stated that they have collected enough funds to pay this month's salaries. He added that his focus is on not trimming the employee count and not to do any pay-cuts.
