Disney released the first Aladdin live-action film in 2019. The film did well in the domestic and international markets. The studio heads are already busy planning a sequel. Disney studio has selected and hired John Gatins and Andrea Burnoff to write the sequel. Gatins has worked on Real Steel and Flight before. Berloff, on the other hand, penned Straight Outta Compton.
Guy Ritchie is directing the sequel. He also directed the 2019 Aladdin film. Cast members like Will Smith, Mena Massoud, and Naomi Scott to reprise their roles as Genie, Aladdin, and Jasmine. Any new cast members for the sequel are still not revealed.
The 2019 live-action film comes after a decade since Disney released its animated Aladdin in 1992. Aladdin's story comes out of A Thousand and One Nights. The film tells the story of a street thief who finds a magical lamp. And how he wins over the kingdom's princess, Jasmine.
Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich are going to produce the sequel to Aladdin. Ryan Halprin who is also from Rideback is the executive producer.
The live action Aladdin collected a monstrous total of 355 million dollars domestically and $1.05 billion at the global box office. With fans watching it all around the world. It will be interesting to see how the sequel performs when it finally comes out.
