SSI Productions has acquired the Tamil Nadu theatrical distribution rights of Gold. 1.25 crores is reported by Filmy beat. It is reported that this is a record amount of distribution rights for a Malayalam movie in Tamil Nadu. After Premaman, the film Gold directed by Alphonse Putren won this amount. Premam was as popular in Tamil Nadu as Kerala or even more than in Kerala. There were theatres in Chennai where the film ran for 275 days.
