Amala Akkineni Returns To Kollywood After Three Decades

Amala Akkineni was the poster girl of Kollywood in the late 80s and early 90s. Who can forget her unibrow in Mohan's Mella Thirandhadhu Kadhavu or her dance performance in Ninnukori Varanam's song? Amala married famous Telugu actor Nagarjuna in 1992. She bid goodbye to Tamil cinema back then. Though she did a Tamil television serial, she d stayed away from Kollywood for thirty years. Now, the actress is all set to return to Tamil cinema after three decades. She will be playing an important role in her upcoming bilingual film titled Kanam. The film will be simultaneously made in Telugu and Tamil. Sharwanand has been roped in to play the lead role with Ritu Varma playing the female lead.

The Telugu version of the film has been titled Oke Oka Jeevitham. Kanam is directed by Shree Karthick and produced by SR Prabhu's Dream Warrior Pictures. The film is tipped to be based on the relationship between a mother and son. While Amala is playing the role of a mother, Sharwanand is playing her son.
