Actress Amala Paul enjoys huge popularity in both, the Telugu and Tamil film industries. Although she has acted in only a few films compared to the other star heroines, Amala has managed to act alongside big stars of both the industries. Thus, she is a known face in both the arenas. For those of you who don't know, Amala was actually supposed to act in Mani Ratnam's upcoming film "Ponniyin Selvan". She also auditioned for the role. But she opted out of it immediately. Amala said that it is a role that was not appropriate for her.
Speaking in a recent interview, Amala said that she was quite excited that she is auditioning for Mani Ratnam's film. When she did the audition, however, Amala felt that the role doesn't suit her. She realized that she would face heavy criticism if she portrayed that character. Thus, she decided not to do it. However, Amala wished to work with Mani Ratnam in the future.
On her career front, Amala was last seen in the film Aadai. She is currently awaiting the release of a Netflix Telugu anthology film. In this film, Amala acted in the segment directed by Nandini Reddy. Apart from that, Amala is also acting in a Hindi web series which is being produced by Mahesh Bhatt. Amala is playing the role of yesteryear Bollywood actress Parveen Babi in the film.
Coming to Ponniyin Selvan, the film features Vikram, Trisha, Karthi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jayam Ravi and Aishwerya Lekshmi in the other important roles. AR Rahman is composing the music for it. It will hit the screens in 2021.
