Amber Heard Appoints A New Legal Team To Challenge The Defamation Verdict Against Johnny Depp.

It was revealed last month that Amber Heard's attorneys informed the court they intended to appeal the jury's decision to award Johnny Depp USD 10 million in damages after finding the actress liable for defamation in her 2018 op-ed for the Washington Post. The appeal was filed on July 21 in Fairfax County, Virginia. Heard reportedly now has a new legal defense group.

The Aquaman actress reportedly retained new legal support to pursue an appeal of the defamation trial result. Heard will have David L. Axelrod and Jay Ward Brown of Ballard Spahr as her principal appellate attorneys, according to Entertainment Tonight. Earlier this year, the attorneys famously defended The New York Times against Sarah Palin's defamation case.

Axelrod and Brown acknowledged working with Heard on the case in a joint statement, adding, "We appreciate the chance to defend Ms. Heard in her appeal since it is a case with significant First Amendment consequences for every American."

The representative for the Aquaman actress stated, "We feel the court committed errors that prohibited a reasonable and fair finding compatible with the First Amendment," following the July 21 court filing addressing the appeal of the verdict. As a result, we are appealing the verdict. There are procedures we need to follow to assure both fairness and justice, even if we are aware that today's filing will set Twitter ablaze, according to ET.

In the meanwhile, Johnny Depp appears to be concentrating on his comeback to Hollywood following his trial victory. It was recently revealed that the actor would be directing a movie for the first time in 25 years, and Al Pacino is the producer.
