Kangana Ranaut expressed her admiration for the seasoned actor on Twitter after Anupam Kher commended the actress. She described him as a strong, powerful man who defends women. They collaborated on her upcoming movie, Emergency.
People talk about woman empowerment till they find an empowered woman and their egos want to crush her but a really strong and secure man will always protect a woman no matter how fierce/ empowered she is.@AnupamPKher ji thank you I always feel loved and appreciated around you. https://t.co/flLXQKkg7u
She was responding to another tweet that had a quote about Kangana from a recent interview with Anupam.
Anupam addressed Kangana's tweet about "Muslim actresses" in an interview. This also attracted Uorfi Javed's attention. When she said that India has always been infatuated with Khan stars and Muslim actresses, she was referring to the most recent Bollywood smash film Pathaan. Uorfi advised her to avoid viewing talent via a religious prism.
In response to the episode, Anupam said to DNA, "I think art has its own place, and religion has its own place. Religion ke wajah se koi film dekhne nahi jaata hai, art ke wajah se hi film dekhne jaate hain (People don't go to watch the film based on religion, but based on art). You don't go to mandir, masjid, or gurudwara after watching a film. You go because you have faith in your religion."
He continued to praise Kangana by saying, "I think Kangana is a brave girl. If we applaud woman's empowerment, we should defiantly celebrate the success of Kangana. Like everybody has freedom of speech, why shouldn't we give her freedom of speech? I think she's one of the finest directors, I have worked with, and I say this after doing 534 films."
Kangana will play the late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in the movie Emergency. The actor Anupam Kher will play the political figure, JP Narayan. In this film, Mahima Chaudhry, Vishak Nair, and Shreyas Talpade play crucial roles.
