Anurag Kashyap expresses agitation and irritation over Citizenship Amendment Bill.

Post-Wednesday after the Citizenship Amendment Bill went through the Rajya Sabha with a clear majority it has seen immense controversy and protests. The bill excludes Muslim immigrants from Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan from becoming Indian citizens over crude reasoning.

Following Bill's passing, many stars from Bollywood have also expressed concern over the bill. Director Anurag Kashyap spoke to The Quint over the same. He said, "My instant reaction to it? My instant reaction to it is why and how and it’s not going to stop. We have voted for it, we should keep getting it. We will keep getting it. I’ve like literally switched off, I do not endorse anything."

Anurag Kashyap later also added, "Either you get into it the whole hog or just let it be. We have to go through this cycle so that we can understand it can happen to any person, the consequences of something like this. Only then will we grow as a society."

Anurag Kashyap is certainly not the only person to have spoken against the bill. Other artists from all fields also criticized the bill and called it discriminatory. Some of these include Arundhati Roy, Paul Zacharia, Amitav Ghosh, and Shashi Deshpande, Aparna Sen, Nandita Das, and Anand Patwardhan.
